Many of us are not aware of this, but the bacteria in our intestines are in the majority and we have a firm grip. They make a good mood by pouring out hormones or bad ones, when they squeeze more calories out of the food, which then lazily put into the fat bed on stomach, legs, buttocks. The intestinal flora is still a big unknown. Now light comes into the darkness. Since the bestseller "Darm gut Charme" by Giulia Enders, we are all allowed to take a look behind the scenes. At least mentally and it's worth it. Because there is a secret that wants to be aired (do not take it literally!).

This is how intestinal bacteria determine our weight

The brain is in the stomach

The human body is made up of trillions of cells. That's an unimaginable amount. But what makes the eight-meter-long digestive tube with its total surface area of 450 square meters due to the shaggy structure of bacteria, is even more impressive. Patric Heizmann has dealt with the topic for many years, he explains: "Mainly shortly before the end, ten times (!) As many bacteria live as the body has cells. With a mass of almost 2 kg. So you are clearly in the majority and have a powerful influence on our lives. It is certain that our abdominal "brain" is more active than previously suspected and dwarfed our gray cells: messengers, such as the happiness hormone serotonin, are mainly made with the help of the intestine. "

The luck is therefore at the belly button height. Where it is often cut off from the tight waistband. Is that why many people do not feel happy? Because it pushes there at the Leprosy headquarter or does the weight weigh on the scale becoming too heavy under too much load? Again, the gut plays a major role ...

Intestinal bacteria could be the cause of depression

Hyperactive intestinal flora

The trillions of bacteria are hungry and fed by us. Depending on how they are fed, different bacterial strains develop differently. Our expert explains: There are four bacterial strains, two of which are particularly important. Literally. There are the Bacteroidetes strains and the Firmicutes. The latter rely entirely on carbohydrates and that on the indigestible, the fiber, which actually slip through and thus indeed massaging the intestinal wall and take out the trash, but not serve as an energy supplier. If there were not the Firmicutes, who make up the fiber, from it energy, so extra calories win, then to us this extra calorie ballast to the hip to pack. This plus does not have to matter much. But when "good feeders" due to the higher Firmicutespopulation only 50 extra calories are teased out of the food daily, that adds up to 18, 000 calories per year or converted to over 2.5 kilograms of fat in the biscuit apron - without even a single calorie eaten to have.

Politics in the gut

The two bacterial strains make each other's place in dispute. They do not want to completely displace each other, but it is about supremacy. This is like politics in the dark and at the same time every day we "vote" who wins. If the Firmicutes permanently receive their favorite food (= carbohydrates), they also retain the majority of "seats" in parliament and thus the ability to govern. The Bacteroidetes, on the other hand, are in opposition and see that the "government" does not take power completely. Carbohydrate-reduced diet therefore helps the Firmicutes something to escape the breeding ground, which decimates them quite thoroughly and gives the bacteroidetes more space. Because with the reduction of carbohydrates reduces the number of "government members".

Genetically conditioned? Mom does it ...

How the intestinal flora builds up, decides very early. As a baby in Mama's stomach, the intestine is still free of bacteria. The settle down, and quickly, when the little rascal hatches and then hangs on Mama's milk or contact with the environment takes (for example, with Mama's skin). Genes then make less the difference than the eating behavior of the mother. For example, medical specialties such as antibiotic cures should be weighed up well in small children because the fight in the intestines for the top spot is still open for the very young. Intervene here has important consequences: Who constantly shoots with the medical surface bomb on single offenders, brings diseases and obesity into the house. At least the problem arises "in an exit" of an organism.

The solution?

After antibiotic cures should urgently be placed on a careful rebuilding the healthy intestinal bacteria by means of a bowel treatment! And who would call himself a "good feed processor", should once deal with a gut rehabilitation and, of course, a diet change. Which trunks are in the lead can be analyzed by a stool sample from a good naturopath (excellently that the word "anal" is included here). And then he knows (hopefully) what to do. An exciting side effect: allergies could then also suddenly start the retreat. It is worthwhile for many people to engage in the intestine and its flora!

If you would like to make your bowel fit again and are interested in a diet change, we advise you to participate in the free online seminar Patric Heizmann. The expert explains important facts for a slim & vital health in a compressed but entertaining way.
