The New Yorker blogs on "The Man Repeller"

Leandra Medine (24) writes her blog "The Man Repeller" (dt. Der Männerabweiser) with humor and understanding. She studied journalism at New York's prestigious "The New School, " and since 2010 has conquered the fashion blogosphere with what she herself calls a "Disney Inspired" style. Fashionista.com voted her the best fashion blogger on the web.

Now Leandra Medine is launching a book called "Man Repeller: Seeking Love, Finding Overalls" (release: 10.09.13). Here she explains, just as personally, flabby and cheeky as on her blog, how not to take yourself too seriously, have fun in fashion and so cool, unexpected looks created. "Better smart than sexy" is the motto.

In the book, Leandra Medine reveals how the term "The Man Repeller" came to be: During a shopping trip with a friend, Leandra Medine headed unerringly toward all the parts that her friend found dreadful (including harem pants, a white shirt with the upline "Mom" and a denim vest with floral pattern). Medine writes, "She said, 'How can you like that? You bounce the men off with your style, you're a good-faith man's scare!' She made it so convincing that I could not stop thinking about her words. "

And so Leandra Medine wrote the following definition: "man re.pell.er [reminder-peller] -nomen: dress themselves so fashionable offensive, that one deterred people of the opposite sex .. Among the garments to be attached here include: Harem pants, Boyfriend jeans, overalls, shoulder pads, jumpsuits, jewelery reminiscent of heavy weapons, and clogs. " "The Man Repeller" was born.

By the way, Leandra Medine married her childhood sweetheart at the age of 23. Her style credo "Dress yourself the way you like it and do not try to please men" pays off. After all, men who are not deterred by harem pants are the better choice in the end anyway.
