Delicious and healthy

Turmeric , a Far Eastern ginger plant, is said to have numerous healing properties. While the herb, also called turmeric, has long been used as a remedy in Ayurvedic medicine, it is known primarily as a spice in this country, because turmeric is the main constituent of curry powder.

Turmeric is supposed to prevent dementia

Initial scientific results suggest that turmeric can protect against various diseases . For example, scientists are investigating whether the active ingredients of turmeric prevent Alzheimer's, as the contained ocher-yellow colorant and plant substance curcumin in the brain prevents the deposition of certain protein complexes.

These may be involved in the development of dementia. In Ayurvedic medicine, however, turmeric is used, for example, to give the body energy and to clean it of bad substances.

Turmeric helps with digestive problems

Turmeric has a digestive effect, as its ingredients stimulate the liver to release more bile acid, which in turn binds dietary fat and makes it digestible. Thus, bloating and feeling of fullness can be alleviated. In the case of such mild complaints in the gastrointestinal tract, the turmeric is in fact already used medicinally, while in the case of severe ailments and diseases, the curative effect must still be proven in corresponding studies. This also applies to a potential positive effect in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases.

Other curative effects of turmeric

Turmeric is still suspected to reduce the breakdown of messengers such as dopamine and serotonin - which are also known as fortunate. Turmeric should also strengthen the immune system and have a growth-inhibiting effect on cancer metastases. However, these assumptions are not scientifically proven. In contrast, turmeric in the test tube has already demonstrated an anti-inflammatory effect, so it is believed that turmeric promotes the healing process of osteoarthritis and sinusitis.

Take turmeric

If you want to use turmeric for therapeutic purposes, such as mild digestive problems, it is recommended to take half a teaspoon of the spice daily. So you can add it as part of the daily diet of different foods. It is important that you add at least a teaspoon of oil to the powder, as the plant substance curcumin is poorly soluble in water and can be absorbed better in combination with fat.
