Is Topshop coming to Germany now?

Can H & M, Primark and Zara pack up soon? The British fashion chain Topshop wants to conquer the European market. And maybe open your own stores in Germany. What about the rumors.

What do Duchess Catherine, It-Girls like Alexa Chung or Olivia Palermo and WE have in common? All love Topshop ! The coveted parts with British charm will soon be available in up to six of their own German branches. Topshop opens in Amsterdam this week. The question remains: How far is the step to Germany?

The start of the empire began less glittering in 1964 in Sheffield. At that time the shop was called "Peter Robinson Store", in 1974 the chain was renamed Topshop. Today, the Green Clan, one of Britain's most dazzling families, rules the fashion company. Top model Kate Moss designs again and again for the UK retailer, along with Megastar Beyoncé will soon follow a sports line . In total, there are 319 stores in the UK and nine in the US. There are also 137 franchise stores in 40 countries. But that's not enough company boss Sir Philip Green, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 for his efforts in the English economy, is far from satisfied: "We have big plans." On February 26th, the 1200m² store in Amsterdam's Kalverstraat opens its first independent branch on the European continent. On three levels you will find fast fashion trends for women, the men's line Topman and a beauty department. "The opening in Amsterdam is the start of a Europe-wide expansion, " quoted the industry magazine Textilwirtschaft Topshop owner Philip Green.

Since September 2013 selected trend parts of the cult brand can be found here in the KaDeWE (Berlin), Oberpollinger (Munich) and in the Karstadt stores Mönckebergstraße (Hamburg) and Schadowstraße (Düsseldorf). However, according to the textile industry, the British are looking for 1500m² locations in the top 6 cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf.
