She wants to convey a good feeling with her drawings

Artist Elisandra has been on the road to success in the Netherlands and Belgium for several years. In the meantime, it is also a household name in Germany.

The professional spectrum of Elisandra is more than diverse. For many years she not only devoted herself to her drawings, but also worked as a journalist and ran her own catering service. Originally, the artist learned the profession of fashion designer. As different as all these professions may be, for Elisandra they were always an opportunity to express their creativity.

Several years ago, the Berlin-based woman left her other professional job behind her and devoted herself entirely to painting and drawing. "It took me that time to develop, " says the artist herself.

At the end of 2010 Elisandra produced her first series for the Dutch edition of the magazine flow. In March 2011 her first cover will be followed by another one in December. "I was virtually discovered and pushed overnight." Another great success: at the end of 2011, Elisandra will have the chance to design the coveted Christmas stamp collection of the Dutch Post. This gives her additional prominence. In Germany, however, the success was still a little in coming. In the meantime we have become aware of Elisandra and her designs.

Elisandra, whose real name is Sandra Elisabeth, has been living for about a year. Meanwhile, the diligent artist tries to produce more and more self, instead of relying on third parties. An important lesson she has learned in recent years is, "Do not wait until others do something for you, do it yourself."

Elisandra draws her inspiration from her childhood and from her roots in Hungary and Croatia. An important role is played by the sweet child Emma, whom the illustrator calls her "Kinderich". Emma is a central figure in the work of Elisandra and has accompanied her since 2010. The pictures below give a small taste of the figure of the little girl.

In general, the artist's designs are characterized by a folkloric style that picks up on various retro elements. According to the artist's own words, they should let the viewer "remember the child" and find a "healing place". Elisandra never wanted to exhibit her art in a gallery, but is still pursuing the goal of "shaping everyday life".

What can we look forward to from the artist in the future? With her next project Elisandra would like to focus on environmental protection and sustainability. "I want to help in everyday life, to think about the environment and to draw attention to the topic in a nice way." Crockery, wallpaper and fabrics with "ecological designs" are planned. But Elisandra does not want to reveal more.

If you are as enthusiastic about the artist's designs as we are, you will find it online, among others, in the Etsy online shop. Incidentally, there is also a separate calendar of the cute child figure.
