King Juan Carlos: pardon of a pedophile

Juan Carlos of Spain and King Mohammed - Did you decide to pardon a pedophile?

He raped 11 children and is now free

This story is simply incredible: a Spanish pedophile, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in Morocco a year and a half ago, has been released since Wednesday: quite legally on the basis of a grace decree of the Moroccan King Mohammed (49).

Together with 47 other Spanish prisoners he was blessed after a state visit by King Juan Carlos (75), according to news agency "MAP". The two kings are considered good friends.

It is quite common for prisoners to be gifted by the king on special occasions. In some cases such a "good deed" is certainly justifiable. In other countries, other penalties usually apply. Even a wrong word about the head of state can lead to the death penalty there. Therefore, pardons or transfers of foreigners are often seen as an "act of friendship".

This case, however, is different and causes only sheer horror: The pedophile Daniel Fino G. raped children aged 4 to 15 years and filmed while still. "It is a retired Spaniard who owns two apartments in Kenitra, " says Hamid Krayri, the victim's lawyer, the Reuters news agency.

The lawyer of the dismissed confirmed that Daniel Fino G. will return to Spain after his apology. There has been no comment from the Spanish embassy so far.

An act of Spanish-Moroccan friendship? For the victims, this "good deed" is a slap in the face. Justice had triumphed with the conviction of Daniel Fino G. - and now? The Moroccan population is appalled. "It's as if the victims were raped a second time, " says a bitter citizen on Twitter, which is currently hotly debated.

How could it happen? Was it just negligence? A mistake? Ignorance? Or come here distorted views on a hierarchical world to the fore, in which men (almost) everything can afford? In the old days, the high-ranking gentlemen also kept their lust slaves - that's all so wild?

Incomprehensible! The horror is great. But this "act of grace" should not go unnoticed. Today, protests are planned in Morocco's capital Rabat. And the Spanish King Juan Carlos will also have to answer some questions at home about his involvement in this scandal ...
