King Bhumibol celebrated his birthday

High birthday

He is the longest reigning head of state on earth and at the same time the monarch sitting on the throne for the longest time in the history of his country: King Bhumibol of Thailand . Now the king, who took up his high office in 1946, celebrated his 84th birthday and showed himself to his people as every 5th of December.

Actually, a cause for joy, but Bhumibol has been seriously ill for years and has been spending longer days in the clinic than in his Chitralada Palace in Bangkok. But in the hospital he lacks nothing. An entire floor was luxuriously furnished for him, of course, with suites for his relatives when they come to visit. His wheelchair resembles an airplane seat, which is adjustable in all directions. From this vehicle, King Bhumibol also delivered his birthday address and called on the Thai people, especially now after the tsunami, to show unity and solidarity. On the balcony stood next to the king in the first row his wife Queen Sirikit, his daughters, the princesses Sirindhorn and Chulabhorn, as well as Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn, who in turn held his son and later heir to the throne Prince Dipangkorn (6) by the hand. A well-rehearsed team with great hope: Thailand's monarchy may have a future even after King Bhumibol.
