The Kinderschutzbund should get 5, 000 euros for discontinuing the child pornography procedure
The Kinderschutzbund Niedersachsen has rejected the fine from the child pornography proceedings against Sebastian Edathy.
The case of Sebastian Edathy heats the spirits of the Germans. On Monday, the case against the former SPD member of parliament for child pornography had been discontinued. Christian Noll, the lawyer of Edathy, had read his admission of guilt: "The charges are true, I owned the items, it took me a long time to admit this mistake, I regret what I did."
The court then closed the case. Edathy was not convicted and should instead pay as a kind of fine € 5, 000 to the Child Protection Association (DKSB) in Lower Saxony. He initially wanted to accept the money for the work of the Child Protection Agency - but now decided against it.
"Also due to personal and public response to us, the Board of the Niedersächsische Kinderschutzbundes decided after careful consideration not to be able to resolve this moral contradiction for themselves, " it said in a press release of the Child Protection Association on Tuesday. It should not give the impression that in the case of child pornography a "free shopping" is possible.
From the point of view of the DKSB, Sebastian Edathy should have been convicted. The current termination of the proceedings does not sufficiently take account of the fact that children have been abused for the manufacture of the material Mr Edathy allegedly possessed.
The court has taken note of this decision and will appoint in the next few days another charitable association as the recipient of the money. Whether the next club wants to have the money of Sebastian Edathy?
