Which changes you expect from September in Germany, read here.

Child benefits, vehicle tax, airport controls: all this is changing in September 2015.

1. The child benefit is increased

First of all, a reason to celebrate: As of 1 September 2015, the already announced increase in child benefits will come into force. The amount increased by four euros per month. Parents now get 188 euros in child allowance for their first and second child, € 190 for the third child and € 219 for each additional child. The increase will be paid retroactively from 1 January 2015. With the transfer of the additional payment is expected from October. Incidentally, from January 2016, child benefit will be increased by two euros each time.

2. The vehicle tax increases

From 1 September, the so-called CO2 tax will be charged in addition to the vehicle tax base amount. Newly approved cars must now meet the emission standard 'Euro 6'. Vehicles may now not emit more than 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer, otherwise the holders will be asked to pay. The respective amount is calculated from the size of the displacement and the amount of pollutant emissions.

3. Hand baggage checks at the airport are tightened

At the German airports, too, something will change at the beginning of September. For now, stricter checks on carry-on luggage are permitted. Specifically, this means that the luggage is now also being examined for illegal substances with the help of explosives detectors. People can also be randomly checked. Reason for the additional security controls are additional EU rules that will apply from 1 September.

4. New minimum requirements for heaters

Not directly from the beginning of the month, but from the 25th of September there are now also efficiency labels for heating systems and water heaters from A ++ to G. New minimum requirements for energy consumption also apply. These changes are designed to make it easier for consumers to better evaluate the energy efficiency of devices before they buy.
