Whether a little black or a big bay, we have six TIPS on how to make your caffeine darling even better and healthier.

Hmm, that smells delicious. There is nothing like the delicious aroma of freshly cooked coffee. Every German drinks about 150 liters of it every year. But you should definitely pay attention to some things beforehand.

1. So much time must be for the right enjoyment
For some, it is the perfect pick-me-up, for others it is pure enjoyment. No matter for what reason you are one of the coffee drinkers, you should take your time. If you need a real boost of energy, it is more effective to drink the coffee in small sips. The mood-enhancing and concentration-promoting effect lasts longer. Take the coffee break as a break for yourself - a moment to enjoy and relax.

2. The danger comes from the coffee plant
Sometimes, unfortunately, only the time remains for a quick infusion of coffee. But beware! If you have high cholesterol, you should take your time better. Because every unfiltered coffee contains cafestol. This is a substance that is found in the fruits of the coffee plant and increases your cholesterol levels within four weeks by up to eight percent.

3. Caffeine is unfortunately not everyone's friend
So tired and so much to do. A wake-up maker needs coffee. But if you have an increased risk of heart attack, you should rather do without it. It is increased when three or more risk factors apply to you: Obesity, smoking or hypertension. Instead, drink decaffeinated coffee. This contains only 0.1 g of caffeine per 100 grams and does not harm you.

4. When the stomach rebels again
Latte macchiato, cappuccino, latte - there are so many different varieties. Unfortunately, some of us hit her stomach. The result: heartburn and Bauchgrummeln. But before you give it up, try it with a darker roast. So the coffee tastes more intense, but is also wholesome.

5. Salt or cocoa for a particularly fine touch
Decisive for the taste are not only the beans, but also the water. Depending on the degree of hardness you can therefore refine your coffee with a pinch of salt or cocoa. Salt neutralizes the bitter substances when the water is particularly soft. Cocoa has the same effect on hard water. The responsible water management can tell you what degree of hardness your water has at home.

6. "Then I can not sleep again ..."
Do you also belong to those who do not dare to drink coffee in the late afternoon or evening for fear of not being able to sleep later? If so, keep in mind that it usually takes four hours for the caffeine to leave the body. However, this value also depends on the amount and speed of your consumption. If you smoke, the caffeine even acts on average only two and a half hours, because tobacco accelerates the degradation. But what many do not know: Coffee can also be sleep-promoting. If you lie down in the first 15 minutes after that, the sleep center in the brain benefits from the increased blood flow.
