In the 1990s, the song "Saturday Night" reached the top of the charts worldwide, making the Danish a star overnight. Now the 48-year-old starts her long-overdue comeback with her single "Boys on Girls". For Wunderweib, Sannie aka Whigfield has answered five questions.

Why did you change your name from Whigfield to Sannie?

"In recent years, I have worked as a songwriter for various projects, again and again under different names. But the main reason is that I switched the style of music and just did not sound like Whigfield anymore. "

What does your new song mean to you, what is special about it?

"The song has something of a rainbow song, a gay lesbian song, I would say. I find it strange that people in 2018 still talk about it as if it's something special to love someone of the same sex. "

What was the best of the 1990s for you?

"The opportunity to perform around the world and see so many different countries was great. It was an honor for me to bring my music to the people. The music industry was still very different then, it was a very fun time for me. It's very hard to get a foothold in the music industry, and if you can do it and travel around the world - at such a young age - it's great. It was the best time."

Do you miss this Whigfield time?

"No, because I'm still traveling a lot and performing on many 90s shows. I was just back in Germany for a performance in front of 20, 000 people. At the same time, I'm still a lot of Whigfield at the same time. "

What are your future plans like Sannie?

"'Boys on Girls' is the first single and I hope it reaches as many people as possible and hopefully I can record in the studio and other songs for an EP in the next few weeks."

The new video for Sannie's single "Boys on Girls" was released just last week and celebrates love in all facets.
