Dalton Russell (Clive Owen) is intelligent, strong-nerved, ruthless and absolutely cold-blooded. In short, he has all the qualities that make him the perfect gangster. And he knows how to use them: he storms a bank in the heart of Manhattan with accomplices, takes numerous hostages, puts them in the same coveralls and sunglasses that he and his troupe wear, thus creating a great deal of chaos for the police. Who is a criminal and who is a hostage? The team around Detective Frazier (Denzel Washington) do not know and Russel shows little cooperative. Maybe the external consultant Madaline White (Jodie Foster) can help? Something about her and the case is scarily mysterious. Frazier is always on the wrong track and soon has to ask himself whether it is in the matter at all a normal bank robbery ... The gangster Dalton Russell and director Spike Lee have one thing in common: Both master their craft perfectly. Lee proves he is still one of the best for explosive thrillers with "Inside Man" and dupes the audience like no one else.
