It is not only the constant search for the next toilet, which interferes with everyday life in case of bladder weakness. Often comes the fear that something "misses". For example, a coughing fit that presses on the bladder.

Strengthen muscles

Unintended loss of urine can affect anyone - regardless of age. Behind bladder weakness is often a flaccid abdominal muscles. At a young age, women are three times more likely to be affected than men. Births play a big role here. Reconstruction gymnastics to strengthen the pelvic floor is therefore so important. But even without a previous pregnancy many women have a weak pelvic floor . And during menopause, the declining hormone production also often leads to bladder weakness. Special pelvic floor strengthening exercises or even some yoga or Pilates exercises can relieve the symptoms significantly.

Exercise bubble

Another form of incontinence, so the bladder weakness, is the irritable bladder . Permanent urinary urgency, uncontrollable loss of urine and diffuse abdominal discomfort characterize her. About five million women suffer from it in Germany. The fault is over sensitive nerves. Inflammation, nerve diseases or metabolic disorders can be the trigger. A targeted toilet training can help here: Note the distances and extend them gradually. An often made mistake is to drink less. This increases the risk of a bladder infection. In addition, the bladder gets used to a low level and incontinence increases. Better: drink 1.5 to 2 l per day.

Gently relax

In a mild form of bladder weakness, the irritable bladder, herbal remedies help. Those with Goldenrod and Bärentraube have a flushing, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effect on the balsa mucosa (eg "Cystinol N solution", pharmacy). In severe cases, the doctor prescribes so-called anticholinergics. They relax the overactive muscles and so relieve the symptoms. Worth knowing about the irritable bladder.

OP or Botox

If gymnastics is not sufficient for a weak bladder therapy alone, pelvic floor muscles can also be strengthened by electrostimulation (TENS). If this does not work out enough, surgery can be performed. Frequently, the muscular body is supported by tension-free ligaments. In the case of an irritable bladder, in turn, Botox injections are now a recognized method (paying cash).
