Eleven-year-old Tilda (Emma Schweiger) has a close relationship with her grandfather (Dieter Hallervorden).

However, as he suffers more and more from his dementia illness, his son and Tilda's father Niko (Til Schweiger) is forced to send the old man to a home. Tilda is anything but okay with that and abruptly kidnaps her grandfather on an adventurous journey to a city that has never left his head: Venice!
