Since Saturday, April 01, 2017, Detlef Scheele is the new head of the Federal Employment Agency . With the change at the top, Hartz IV recipients have to adapt to news and stricter rules. Scheele revealed to the Spiegel that he was planning a "caring siege" of the unemployed . These include a higher contact density, more frequent visits, more subpoenas, calls for further qualification .

Sounds as if the already high pressure on the unemployed should be massively increased. Scheele admitted this to the SPIEGEL quite openly and said, you have to give people who have been out of the job for a long time now and then a little "push".

Care or control?

The 'gegen-hartz' page correctly notes that a 'siege' by definition serves the goal of massively restricting an opponent in his freedom of movement and morally wearing him down until he gives up. The website continues to draw on the concept of 'caring' a comparison to the Third Reich and the GDR, where citizens were so long summoned to talks, monitored and controlled until they morally wearied did everything that was required of them. Similarly, according to 'gegen-hartz' also now to be feared that Hartz IV recipients accept the next best job, just to escape the 'caring siege'.

It should be noted that while it is true that a 'siege' is traditionally used in a military context, journalists are also besieging the politician and our visit on Sunday. Therefore, Scheele should not be assumed to be evil in his choice of words. In addition to the introduction of 'caring control', the new BA boss also wants to carry out further innovations and focus on further training measures.

Scheele wants to try to get people back to work as soon as possible.
