An increased urge to urinate is logically normal when there is a lot of drinking. The body produces about one to one and a half liters of urine a day, with increased hydration, the amount of urine increases. Especially alcohol and coffee consumption ensure that the urge to urinate. However, if the urine goes off involuntarily and involuntarily, it is called urinary incontinence. In the vernacular, incontinence is often referred to as bladder weakness, but it means the same thing.

Urinary incontinence can occur in these different forms:

1. urge incontinence: It is also called overactive bladder or irritable bladder. The urinary urgency occurs suddenly and unexpectedly. Often the urine goes unchecked before a toilet could be visited.

2. Reflex incontinence: There is no urinary urgency, but there is a loss of urine. Blame is the bladder wall muscles, which involuntarily contracts.

3. Stress or stress incontinence: This form is particularly prevalent in women. Physical exertion, such as lifting or carrying, releases urine. Even when laughing or coughing, it may happen that the bladder loses urine. A urge to urinate is perceived by the affected in advance not aware.

If urinary incontinence is suspected, it is advisable to visit a doctor to rule out serious illnesses. The therapy consists of a behavioral adaptation, there are also medications support available. If these therapies fail, it may be advisable to take operational measures.

Urinary incontinence is a disease that can occur, for example, in a bladder infection or in mental stress situations. The bladder weakness is a taboo subject, hardly anyone speaks about it, although estimated every third person from the age of 65 years is affected. Women are significantly more likely to be affected by incontinence.

If you no longer worry that you may be suffering from bladder weakness or urinary incontinence, but still want to go to the bathroom less often: you can train your bladder! The best way to do it is to avoid giving in to urine urgency immediately. Thus, the urinary urgency becomes more controllable over time. Also, a change in drinking and nutritional behavior, pelvic floor exercises and relaxation training can ensure that the toilet visit can sometimes take a while to pause.
