A pinch of nostalgia

With picture rails, a little color and stucco elements - so easy to build a spice rack in a romantic look.

A little pinch of nostalgia? No problem, because now we show you how to make a simple spice rack an eyecatcher in the romantic look itself. It works in just three steps ...

Charm offensive

The self-made shelves with stucco decoration and ceramic handles bring comfort to your kitchen . You also gain space for spices, cookbooks and small helpers.

499 €: Ikea Flower Pot "Flower Pot", white, about 49 €: Desiary Spice Grinders, each about 27 €: Witch Hazel & Cinderella about DaWanda, spice jars , round, about 5 each €: House Doctor, rest: private)

What you need for the spice rack :

• 2 picture rails, here "Ribba", each 115 cm long, from Ikea • 2 handles, here "Mara handpainted Carolina", of style melange • 230 cm ornamental profile, here "Gracia" of Saarpor • Styrofoam adhesive • Instantspachtel • sandpaper, 200 grit • wall paint • brush • cordless drill • 4 screws for hanging the shelves (depending on the wall condition) • pliers • cutter • folding rule, geodesic • Depafit (foam board, about DIN A4, 5 mm thick) • pencil • masking tape

And this is how it's done:

Screw:

Mark the fixing points for the handles with pencil on the picture strip, pre-drill holes (Ø 4 mm). Tighten the handles from the rear using the screws provided. Use a flat pair of pliers for this.

crop:

For each picture strip, trim the ornamental profile to 114 cm each. Place in the middle of the lower front edge of the strips and fasten with special glue, leaving 5 mm space left and right.

Sticking:

For beautiful side finishes, make two covers each. To do this, place the shelf construction vertically on the Depafit, trace the contours of the lower edge of the picture strip and the outside of the decorative profile, cut and glue.

Mask all areas that are not painted with masking tape. Paint trim and side panels with paint. Let dry. Screw finished shelves to the desired location on the wall.
