Come in to the autumn garden

Small effort, big impact: October shows its sensual side and provides the ingredients for uncomplicated decorations. Fruits and leaves are now as beautiful as ever.

Admittedly, the summer is over, but its splendor lingers on for a long time: late bloomers like asters and chrysanthemums give us flowers for bouquets and wreaths that shine in intense colors. And the freshly harvested fruits are by nature pieces of jewelry anyway. The strong orange of a ripe pumpkin makes the summer sun shine again and makes us warm around the heart. Speaking of warmth and gardening tips : At the evenings, which are already cool in October, the sight of a campfire is particularly good: you do not need a lot of space for it. A fire bowl also fits on the terrace and lets the flames blaze in the smallest space.

exhibit

In summer it was our favorite place, from October it becomes a flower stage. Our tip: decorate your rocking chair or garden bench with autumn blossoms, berries and fruits and set them up so that the staging is also clearly visible from the living room.

With brains

Ornamental cabbage is pulled for the eye and not for the kitchen. If you place it in a planter in autumn and combine it with hops and rose hips (from the florist), it will be a souvenir that lasts longer than a bunch of flowers.

Steady flower

You want a natural flower decoration that lasts for months? We have an idea. For this permanent table decoration you need purple and purple hydrangea flowers, a straw wreath, flower wire and a pillar candle. Remove the leaves and shorten the leaves
Stalks with a pair of scissors. Tie the hydrangea flowers with the wire so tightly on the wreath that straw is no longer visible. Finally, put the wreath on a placemat, let the flowers dry and put the candle in the middle. Tip: The flower colors last longer if the wreath is not exposed to the sun.

In the pot

After the summer flowers is planting time for autumn bloomers. For example, plastic pots are lightweight and make work more comfortable.

Gardening tips : We'll do that in October

1. Storage of dahlias: Dig out plants, remove soil and store the tubers in the cellar, frost-free.

2. Plant tulips: As long as the soil is not frozen, put the onions about 10 cm deep.

3. Winterize geraniums: Install the window boxes in a cool and bright place (eg staircase)
