They like furniture for the open-air season
Garden furniture stays nice for a longer period of time, when refreshed during the summer from time to time and maintained before their storage in winter.
hardwoods
Teak, robinia and eucalyptus get a silver-gray patina outside. If you prefer the brown original sound, you have to do something to preserve it.
Clean and de-bark
Teak brightener or so-called Entgrauer fresh woods again on. Soak heavily soiled surfaces first with neutral soap and water and scrub with a root brush. Helpful are special cleaners. Then rinse the surface and let it dry well. Then brush with the dehumidifier.
Garden furniture made of wood: protect with oil
Nursing oils impregnate the surface, protect and make it supple. In the trade, there is the right oil for every wood. Rough surfaces should be sanded before oiling. Apply oil thinly and allow to act, eventually wipe off excess oil. So worked up, the wood must be wiped off only sporadically damp.
softwoods
Pine, spruce and alder are very sensitive to the weather and can quickly become modern and dilapidated due to their moisture in the open air. Therefore, a new furniture needs a protective coat immediately.
Maintain wooden garden furniture: painting
For outdoor use, acrylic lacquers that dry quickly or weather-resistant stains that, unlike lacquer, still show the wood color and grain are suitable. Sand the wooden surface smooth, then apply the varnish or glaze once or twice.
Check
To prevent rot, check the furniture regularly - and before they overwinter - to see if any damage is visible. Particularly vulnerable are wooden feet without a protective cap.
mend
Allow the wood to dry thoroughly, then sand all defective areas over a large area and paint with wood protection. So your wooden furniture will be good throughout the year.
