Real beauty does not need Photoshop
Round, tight, perfect - that's how breasts are portrayed in the media. In truth, they often look very different. Photographer Laura Dodsworth has photographed 100 women up without.
Female breasts are individual. Some have scars, spots, some are misshapen. Some are small, some are hanging. At least in reality. Most breasts look different in the media. Round, uniform and without blemishes. Perfectionism thanks to Photoshop. And these fake beauty ideals go around the world. It is not surprising that many women are unhappy with the look of their breasts.
British photographer Laura Dodsworth is fed up with unattainable perfectionism. She wants to show the world what female curves look like in reality. And women make courage to be proud of their breasts - the way they are. Laura Dodsworth has launched a project called "Bare Reality", the Naked Truth . For "Bare Reality" she photographed the breasts of 100 women between the ages of 19 and 101, from cup size AAA to K, with tattoos, amputations, wrinkles, scars ... taken from life and without any retouching!
Breastfeeding mothers, Buddhist nuns, breast cancer survivors, strippers, career women - there's a personal story to every breast. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad. But they all have one thing in common: they are full of pride in the female body. In addition, photographer Laura Dodsworth wants to encourage even more women. To be proud of webliness, sexuality and motherhood. The motto: This is how we look. This is how we feel. - That's how we look. That is how we feel.
Dodsworth's books can be pre-ordered online. One pound (about 1.25 euros) goes to each of the research "Breast Cancer UK", which are mainly used for the prevention of breast cancer. More information about the project can be found on Laura Dodsworth's website.
