Sand, seawater, sunscreen: how long do gold tattoos last?

Flash tattoos in the jewelry look are the trend of the summer. We've tested the sticking jewels in gold and silver - and reveal how long they really last. And what they do not tolerate.

Temporary tattoos in gold and silver

What a brilliant idea! Stick-on flash tattoos in gold or silver are currently the absolute beauty highlight of the summer. The best thing about the completely painless body art variant: jewelry tattoos are easy to apply anywhere and last up to six full days! Really? We have tested this and taken a bow of the metallic decals on holiday.

The application is really as easy as promised. Cut out the desired tattoo as close as possible and select a body spot. For the temporary tattoos to hold, the skin must be fat-free, otherwise it does not stick at all. Then simply peel off the foil on the back, place it on the spot and moisten with a wet sponge. Wait a moment, pull off - done! First of all, I apply my hands and arms, two tendrils on my fingers, a "bracelet" around my wrist. And: I have to slow myself down. Sticking works so easy and the result is equally successful that I would like to gild half body. Who likes, only to. Personally, I like the shimmering motifs as a small highlight at best.

And how long did it last? Four to six days, as promised, unfortunately not. But with me the precious metal pictures also had to endure the acid test: sunscreen, heat, salt water and sand make the glitter tattoos of course to create. Large-scale tattoos come off first. The more filigree the motifs are, the better they hold. But even in everyday life, far away from vacation, the following applies: If you shower a lot, peel yourself, shave or simply wash your hands often, you have to say goodbye to your flash tattoos within a few days. For me, the motives held on the fingers only about a day, the "bracelet" was only about two days really nice and then rubbed off slowly. If you do not like it before, you can remove the pictures with baby oil. My solution: Simply glue new jewelry tattoos to it.

Now, back from vacation and exactly six days after I have pasted the motives, the gold tattoos are already rubbed off heavily. So: High time to remove - and re-gluing!

What do the gold tattoos cost? And: where to buy?

My bow "Indigo" comes from Lulu DK Tattoos, a jewelery tattoo label from the USA with very pretty designs (2 bows with different designs, about 35 euros over luludk.de). And also with all other labels states: Metallic tattoos are unfortunately not very cheap. The set of flash tattoos costs between 25 and 50 euros, for example via blissany.com, individual motives are available from 5 euros. Other smaller sets of DCER tattoos are also available at Douglas, about 5 euros. Skin Jewel Tattoos sets are available for 29 euros.
