You need this for the cushion cover:

  • 0.5 m cotton lime
  • 0.5 m cotton may green
  • 0.5 m cotton turquoise
  • Yarn in matching, neutral color eg lime green
  • Measuring tape, cardboard square (14 x 14 cm), rotary cutter, cutting mat, pins
  • Filling cushion 50cm x 50 cm

And this is how it's done:

1. Design Patchwork Pattern:

The first thing to think about is how to arrange your patchwork. Our patchwork pattern is made up of triangles. These can be combined differently.

You can make the patchwork pattern the way you like it.

2. Cut fabrics:

Put the first fabric on the cutting mat and fold it three times so that you have eight layers. Then you put the cardboard square on the top layer and cut once along the four edges of the square. Repeat this for all the colors you want to use for the front part of the cushion cover. For the back of the pillow, cut two rectangles measuring 38 x 50 cm from the fabric of your choice.

3. Prepare Patchwork:

Now you put two colors on each other and fold them diagonally once. Then, at right angles, place your piece of cardboard on the resulting triangle, where you would measure the height of the triangle. Here you cut a straight line with the rotary cutter. Now you have two pairs of exactly matching fabric triangles.

4. Sew triangles square:

Steppe the triangle pair now at the long edge feet wide and think about beginning and end of the seam with back and forth to secure. That's called locking.

5. Arrange patchwork:

Now you can think about how you want to arrange the patchwork parts. We decided on a geometric pattern. Try so long, until you like the pattern really well!

6. Sew together patchwork:

Then you first quilt the short seams of a row, repeat this for all rows and then you stitch all the rows together in the correct order.

7. Patchwork pillow back

We close the cushion cover with a hotel lock. For this you fold one of the long sides of the two back pieces twice approx. 1 cm and stitch them tightly.

8. Join patchwork pillows

Now you put the two back sides together so that the seams overlap and the back has the size of the front part. Then you stitch all four edges of the front and back together. Cover the edges with an overlock or zigzag stitch.

9. Finish patchwork pillow

Now just iron the pillow again, insert the cushion filling and your new spring patchwork patch is ready!
