Facebook abolishes the hated "Other" folder!

He was a black hole for News: The Other Folder

Finally, Facebook creates something that hardly anyone will miss: The "Other" folder, in which all the news ends up with people we are not directly friends with.

Rarely visited, mostly overlooked: the other folder on Facebook.

If someone with whom you are not directly friends, sent a message via Facebook, the "Other folder" in the news landed. And mostly forgotten.

Because the Facebook user does not get a notification that he has a new message in this folder, nor can he see the folder of mobile devices such as the smartphone at all. He only has access to this well-hidden folder from his PC.

How many inquiries in style "Are you the XY who made me XXXX Abi with me?" or "Have not we talked so nicely at the party last Saturday? Unfortunately I lost your number, but I'd like to keep in touch", which were also welcome, have been lost in this "Other" folder? Were discovered only weeks / months later by chance and were until then completely unnecessary ...

We certainly will not miss this folder, and we are glad that Facebook has now officially announced via its employee David Marcus that it will be abolished.

Instead, Facebook users will in future first receive a message request, which ends up in their normal messages, and with which they can decide whether they want to read a stranger's message at all or rather ignore it. The sender can not see if the recipient has read his message or not.

Spam will continue to be "harshly fought" by Facebook ("will continue to ruthlessly combat").

And for those who did not know anything about the existence of the "Other" folder, here you can find it:
