First Aid - what's right and what's not

Properly helping can save lives. But do you still remember the first aid rules?

Here you can check your knowledge - just in case.

First: stable side position

PARTLY AGREE: Check in advance if the person is unconscious: Only if that is the case, apply! This location helps keep the airway clear. Stretch your head backwards, with your mouth to the floor.

Cool burns with water

PARTLY AGREE: The running water should not be freezing cold, but rather have room temperature. In any case, keep your fingers away from home remedies such as flour or oil. That sticks the wound!

PARTICULARLY AGREES: Respiratory donation can be dispensed with rather than the even more important chest compressions. Both in the change works best. Incidentally, you are not required to ventilate!

DO NOT AGREE: The poison should rather be diluted in the body. This works best with water. Milk would accelerate absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Do not actively induce vomiting.

DO NOT AGREE: Better apply a pressure bandage. If you improperly ligate your arms or legs, the blood may clump or nerve fibers may be injured.

VOTE: Something trapped in the trachea helps light beats between the shoulder blades when coughing out. If that's not enough, use the Heimlich handle: from the back, grab the other's chest and squeeze it.

DIFFICULT: In motorcycle accidents, the error is persistent, you should definitely leave the helmet in order not to hurt the spine. Forget it! The danger of suffocation is much greater. Carefully pull the helmet backwards. This is easier if a second helper raises the head and neck slightly.
