Sightseeing
Bundestag
The glass dome of the Reichstag is open every day from 8-24 clock (last entry 22:00 clock) for visitors. It is best to take the train to the central station and then walk across the Spree and the forecourt. But you can also reach the Reichstag building from the Brandenburg Gate. If you already sign up for a guided tour, you do not have to stand in line.
The Brandenburg Gate
The building, completed in 1791, is the landmark of the capital. It is considered a national symbol for the history of Berlin, Germany and its reunification. Cost: around 10 euros for adults.
Spree Tour
The trips start at the Moltke bridge. Get off at the Spreeufer, which is opposite the main station (Fürst-Bismarck-Straße). The journey takes one and a half hours. Cost: around 8 euros for adults. www.reederei-riedel.de
Berlin underworlds
Tickets for tours one to three can be bought at the Gesundbrunnen underground station in the southern lobby. The cash register opens at 10:30. Further information: www.berliner-unterwelten.de
DDR Museum
The very special museum is located in Berlin-Mitte. Here, life in the former GDR was recreated with original exhibits. Socialist living spaces and other objects from the everyday and professional lives of citizens and party members are shown. The museum is located opposite the Berliner Dom in Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 1. Costs: around 5 Euro. Opening hours: Mon-Sun 10 am-8 pm, Sat 10 am-10 pm, www.ddr-museum.de
Madame Tussauds
Wax figures of international personalities from music, TV, cinema and politics are exhibited here. Opening hours: Mon to Sun 10 am to 7 pm (last admission: 6 pm). Cost: around 19 euros.
Shopping
KADEWE
The department store of the West has a total area of 65, 000 square meters, making it the largest department store in continental Europe. The Kadewe is known for its functional shop-in-shop principle. There is nothing that does not exist here. The department store is on Kurfürstendamm in the Tauentzienstraße. On the sixth floor is a foodie paradise. The quickest way to reach the Kadewe is to take the U-Bahn Wittenbergplatz.
Alexa
Here you will find everything your heart desires and the right on the Berlin Alexanderplatz. On 56, 200 sqm of shopping area with 178 shops, you can shop until the doctor comes.
