One is carcinogenic! Öko-Test is testing toothpaste with terrifying results

ko test has tested toothpaste. From "very good" to "unpleasant" everything is there. The frightening: a popular toothpaste should even contain carcinogenic substances!

I myself often take the toothpaste for the more expensive products. Simply because I think that a dental treatment of poorly maintained teeth would be much more expensive. But eco-test proves now: Wrong thought! The cheap toothpastes are usually much better than the expensive ones. One of the "good" expensive ones has even received an inadequate because it contains carcinogenic substances!

13 toothpastes get "poor"

Öko-Test has tested a total of 38 toothpastes in the pollutant laboratory with extremely different results. Thus 19 products receive a "very good", 13 against a "poor" or "insufficient".

In the 13 failed products Öko-Test discovered harmful substances. The worst: the toothpaste "Aronal". It contains PEG and PEG derivatives that are considered carcinogenic.

"Aronals" counterpart "Elmex" (probably everyone knows the slogan "Aronal in the morning, in the evening Elmex"), however, received a "very good".

Failed products include: Odol Med-3 Original, Signal, Dentagard herbs (all three contain sodium lauryl sulfate that can irritate the mucous membranes) and Lacalut Active Medical Toothpaste. "Insufficient" was given to Ajona Stomaticum Medicated Toothpaste Concentrate (containing sodium lauryl sulfate and no fluoride even though it is the main anticancer agent) and Aronal.

Many toothpastes are also not enough for their ingredients. For example, toothpaste with zinc is unsuitable for children and adolescents, Aronal and dr. Wolf's Biorepair contain zinc, but it is not noted on the packaging. The "repair" effect of Dr. med. Wolf's Biorepair by artificial enamel could not be detected either.

19 toothpastes get "very good"

The test winners also include the prize winners. Because especially cheap toothpastes are among the good ones: All Dent toothpaste herbs from Penny, Dentabella Med from Norma and Dentalux Complex 3 Mint Fresh from Lidl. But also natural products such as Alterra toothpaste organic mint (Rossmann) and Alverde 5 in 1 toothpaste Nanaminze (DM).

In conclusion, the testers again emphasize that fluoride should be included in toothpaste for adults: "Fluoride should be included in every toothpaste, foaming sodium lauryl sulfate, which can irritate the mucous membranes, or questionable parabens as a preservative in any."
