DIY ideas with chess pieces and zigzag pattern

You do not have to be a chess fan to get these adorable decoration ideas home, because zigzag patterns and funny DIY ideas always work.

This is what you need for the pillows:

  • 2 A4 sheets of paper
  • black fabric
  • Vliesofix
  • Two pillowcases 40 x 40 cm
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • French chalk
  • fabric scissors
  • Iron and ironing board

And that's how easy it is:

1. Prepare chess pieces as a template on a sheet of paper so that they fill the sheet lengthwise. Also provide letters for the words "king" and "queen". Cut out everything.

2. Place Vliesofix with the rough side on the left side of the black fabric. Dry for 5 seconds, iron without steam.

3. Draw the templates on the fabric side with tailor's chalk and cut out.

4. Remove backing paper and place with the coated side down on the selected position of the pillowcases and iron again.

1. Stick chess pieces to the lids or cork.

2. Spray the lids and their figures in a well-ventilated room or outside and let them dry.

Info: Use spray paint on paper underlays only in well-ventilated areas or outdoors, wearing gloves and mouthguards.

1. Prime wooden board white and allow to dry.

2. Measure 8 x 8 x 5 cm x 7.5 cm fields on the board and draw in pencil.

3. Mask off the fields with painter's crepe and alternately paint turquoise in the checkerboard pattern.

4. Glue two of the short strips at the top and bottom of the edge of the board, and glue them as individual layers between the check pattern and glue.

5. Stick two of the long strips on the right and left sides and also stabilize the frame from the outside with 2-3 nails on all sides.

6. Hang on a nail in the wall.

Tip: If the chess pieces have different sizes, the size of the board and the individual fields must be adjusted.

1. Paint half the figures and let them dry.

2. Write half the names of the guests on white, the other half black paper and cut out oval.

3. Fix the cards on the figures with double-sided adhesive tape and arrange them together with the chess pieces.
