Do you sometimes think about organ donation? But are you still worried about what will happen to you if you carry an organ donor card with you?
Again and again, horror stories of transplanting organs appear, discouraging many potential donors from volunteering. In Germany currently over 10, 000 people are waiting for a life-saving organ. You can save lives by providing their organs after their death. Not a nice idea, but important for sick people to survive.
The heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, intestines and parts of the skin, as well as the cornea of the eyes, heart valves and parts of the blood vessels, bone tissue, cartilage tissue and tendons (tissues) can be donated. Which organs can be, you note yourself in the donor card.
The Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) for organ donation tries to clarify so that no potential donor must be more afraid that might be detected faster due to the organs of brain death to remove organs. "Brain death is detected and documented independently by two doctors according to the guidelines of the German Medical Association, " assures the BZgA to take uncertainty.
