West for every figure

Surely you also have one in the cupboard - well, because the West are fashionable evergreens. Whether strong, slim, wide hips or little waist - it does not matter! We reveal what details every type of figure should pay attention to.

Problem zone : Big boobs

Simple cuts made of flowing, plain-colored materials stretch the upper body and do not wear. A long sweater is also suitable for shorter vests with glitter details. They distract without pushing. An open front reduces the silhouette.

Problem zone: Small tits

For you, vests are perfect with a noticeable yoke or fluffy fabric. Details like pockets on the chest or a wide lapels provide an additional push-up effect. Avoid dark tones. A closed front gives even more volume.

Problem zone: strong hips

Loose, hip-length models have the nose here. Even small-scale patterns are ideal to hide the hip area. So that the silhouette does not seem too voluminous, choose narrow combination partners. High shoes stretch the leg in addition.

Problem Zone: Broad shoulders

Choose parts with a pointed, wide-cut front, which make the upper body less boxy. The shoulders should be narrow, which also flatters. Details on the hem draw attention away from the shoulders.

Problem Zone: No waist

With a closed vest you achieve the best effect. Pay attention to details such as sidecut, a tie or ruffles. Dark fabrics make the center disappear, so rather turn to bright colors. Even contrasting belts conjure up a waist.

Wearing the West: The No-Gos

1. Avoid too much volume. If the vest has a wide shape, pants or skirt should be narrow.

2. Length relationships must be right. Better not choose a model that is longer than the shorts or the skirt - that bends.

3. The right size is crucial. Better buy the vest one size bigger. Too small parts break the look.

Worth knowing: The history of the vest

The garment first appeared in 1675 as a jacket for Justaucorps (men's coat) on and initially had short sleeves. Over the centuries, it was an integral part of every men's suit, but its length fluctuated several times between the hips and waist. Marlene Dietrich wore tuxedos for the first time in the 30s and made the vest socially acceptable for women. Meanwhile, the model range for women is greater than for men - what good news!
