"I'm not fat, I'm me, " Allison Fay Kness (@ alliefay_2378 on Instagram) wrote about the bikini photo from the bathroom she posted on Instagram on August 11, 2014 - using the hashtag Fatkini. The combination of "fat" and "bikini" are using more and more women to mutually encourage each other on the social platform and demonstrate their love for their bodies - despite or just because of a few extra pounds on their hips.

We show the inspiring pictures of self-confident women and reveal the stories behind them:

Tess Munster: "My stomach is a zone I still love to learn - although I appreciate everything he has done for me. He is round and covered in stretch marks because he carried my wonderful son in him. [...] Today I celebrate that I can go swimming with my son without worrying about what others might say. And you know what? Nobody cared that my stomach is looking out. "(@Tessmunster on Instagram)

Rachel Estapa: "Of course I'm still scared to show my body, but I've learned that it's totally OK and part of it ... fear shows you that something wonderful is waiting on the other side. For the life you want, you're never too fat or too thin. "(@Rachelestapa on Instagram)

Allison Nickole Hamilton: "One year ago this comment really hurt me. Today I laugh about it and I'm proud of myself. [...] It does not hurt me, because I know that I'm more than fat. I'm strong, intelligent, funny, talented, loving, unique and beautiful. "(@Bodypositivebelle on Instagram)

Kate Aikins: "That's me in a bikini. I leave the picture hanging in my bedroom as a constant reminder that I can wear it - and look good as long as I believe I do that! It was a milestone for me to wear it in public! [...] Our bodies are just incredible. Walking, eating, giving life, stretching, dancing, having sex - every day I am surprised by the abilities of the human body, I always learn something new about myself and reach my limits. I'm healthy, I'm strong, I'm fat. But I love my body ". (@thismisskate on Instagram)

Bianca O'Bray: "Attention, I show more skin than usual! I am not desperate and do not need attention [...]. I'm just self-confident and every day happier about being in this skin and body. I have scars, I'm not skinny, I do not care what hater say. I'm fatter than average but I'm happy, confident and beautiful. "(@Biancaobray on Instagram)
