Star Interview: Hayden Christensen

As a star warrior, he falls for the dark side of power. Hayden Christensen is a really nice guy who wants to meow.

"I grew up in a women's household"

You are the hero of the new "Star Wars" movies, the last part of which is now in theaters. By contrast, in 1977, the first movie in this series, you were not even born. When did "Star Wars" become known to you? My older brother Tove was always a big "Star Wars" fan. When I was ten or eleven years old and in his opinion old enough, he made me watch the videos. However, at the age of six I was a fanatical fan of the "Star Wars" video games. I think there is no boy for whom "Star Wars" has no meaning.

Where did you grow up? In Vancouver, Canada. My parents, to whom I have a very close relationship, own the PR agency "Christensen Communications" there. My mother writes and my father develops software. I have an older and a younger sister, so I grew up in a proper women's household. Maybe that's why I have so much respect for women.

What do you like about women? (Laughs) Oh, I am still so young and have so little experience. But my dream girl should be about my age, have a healthy attitude to life, and understand the movie business.

Is this dream woman already available? No. I am still single .

"It was like an orgasm"

How did you become an actor? By my older sister Hejsa. She used to be junior world champion in trampolining and my parents were looking for an agent for her. Because nobody at home could take care of me, they just took me along. In the end, I and not she had an agent and my first ad for "Pringles." At that time, I was eight years old. At age 13, I played in a couple of TV movies. Later, I was at the Lee Strassberg School in New York. I am not a natural talent, but have thoroughly learned the acting craft.

How did you get the role in "Star Wars", a role that Leonardo DiCaprio would have liked as well? It is said that the less the viewer knows about the role, the less the viewer knows about it. I think that was why George Lucas chose me. I had just starred in the small Canadian television series "Higher Ground" when George Lucas surprised me with "Star Wars".

In "The Revenge of the Sith" Anakin Skywalker transforms into the dark villain Darth Vader ...... and I had to gain eight kilos for it and therefore I ate everything that came to my plate.

How do you feel in the famous Darth Vader costume? You sweat, because the clothes and the helmet weigh 20 kilos. Besides, you do not see much. Nevertheless, I loved the costume. It gave me a very powerful feeling. And holding the lightsaber was like having an orgasm.

"I find water incredibly sensual"

Is it true that you are a underwear and sock freak? Oh yes. I think there is no better feeling than putting on fresh underwear and fresh socks. I own over 200 briefs and socks.

And what else do you like? I find water incredibly sensual. In addition, I collect frogs in all forms. And I love music of all kinds, except Celine Dion and Bryan Adams. Music is a great way to switch off. Music supports, accompanies all possible emotions. Music helps me with every role. Classical music gives me inner peace, Heavy Metal brings aggression.

What's your favorite song? "Fields of Gold" by Sting.

And your favorite author? Hermann Hesse. Unfortunately, lately I have not read enough.

What's your next movie called? Decameron ?, about the plague in Florence. A completely different genre. Shooting with Mischa Barton will start in Italy in July.

What is your biggest wish? What my mother has always wanted for me, to be happy. That would be me if I got a voice in the "Simpsons". I would also give my cat my voice and meow.
