The proud and moving story of the noble family

They fought on the side of Henry the Lion, they negotiated with Napoleon and they have led an entire district to glory and honor: The Princely House to the lip.

The royal family has existed for 800 years, after which the district of Lippe between Hannover and Münster is named. Counts, noblemen, princes and rulers lived here, all of whom sprang from the princely house to the Lippe and from whom descended Prince Stephan zur Lippe (53).

He is the son of the current head of the family Armin zur Lippe (88), a significant pioneer in the film's recording. His father was the first film footage of the family in 1905 and he himself continued the work until the 60s. Thus, the Fürstenfamilie zur Lippe owns one of the few such extraordinary and exclusive archive film recordings in the world.

But it's not just the legendary filming that has made the Lippe family into history. Archaeological sensations were discovered in the Teutoburg Forest: jewelery and chess pieces, which can be traced back to Prince Stephan's direct ancestors, have now been discovered at an old ancestral home of the 12th-century family during excavations.

But even today, the family around Prince Stephan and his wife Maria (44) does everything to preserve the family heritage. They are still deeply rooted in the city of Detmold and the Lippe district and continue the centuries-long tradition of their family.
