Violent reproaches!

German discounters such as Aldi Nord, Penny and Frosta are involved in the food scandal involving international shrimp producer CP Foods.

Discounters such as Walmart and Tesco have so far faced fierce allegations in the food scandal surrounding CP Foods alone. Now, these should also refer to German discounters such as Aldi Nord, Penny and Frosta.

Thailand-based shrimp producer CP Foods, which specializes in seafood and meat products, delivers ready meals and fresh seafood to discounters, food manufacturers and middlemen. As the British newspaper "Guardian" now reported, the group has worked with dodgy local suppliers and sourced fishmeal to feed the shrimp.

According to the "Guardian" report, these suppliers are forced to work, exploited, tortured, and even abused, even to death, fisherman slaves from Thailand, Cambodia and Burma under threats of violence.

Bob Miller, executive director of CP Foods in the UK, admitted to the British newspaper: "We do not defend what happens, we know there are problems with the raw materials, but there is little visibility."

A short time later, CP Foods even announced that it would do without the use of fishmeal in the medium term. But officially there will be no fishmeal until 2021 - in seven years!

In addition to Aldi Nord and Penny, the scandal has now reached the frozen food provider Frosta. The company, which mainly sourced CP Foods chicken products, stopped all purchases after the revelations about the inhumane circumstances came to light.

"We were shocked and decided not to order any more CP Foods merchandise, " said a spokesperson for the Huffington Post.

The company is now considering what should happen to the remaining products.
