Couperose - What's that?

In the case of couperose, dilated vessels appear under the skin, presumably due to a genetic connective tissue weakness . This manifests itself above all by fine red veins in the face, which can sometimes shimmer even bluish. They often appear on the nose and cheeks. Strong sunlight and stress can aggravate the symptoms.

With couperose you should pay particular attention to the ingredients in creams . Oily and perfumed products damage the affected skin even more. On the other hand, creams that provide the skin with moisture or soothing ingredients are better. Also suitable, for example, care products with horse chestnut extract to strengthen the vessels. Creams that contain a complex of vitamin B3 and vitamin C derivative can even prevent the unsightly redness. Also, a treatment with moist compresses or compresses with black tea, horsetail or arnica can have a positive effect, on the one hand constrict the vessels and on the other strengthen the connective tissue. Quick cosmetic help against the red capillaries on the face by the way offer green cover pins. Dab them on the affected skin, the red discoloration is neutralized. Afterwards apply a normal make-up primer and matting powder.

You should rather do without it

Everything that favors vascular changes and can thus increase the price of couperose should be avoided. These include coffee, tea, alcohol and smoking. Even if massages and strong scratching, such as peeling, should actually be avoided, the so-called Soebi technique is an exception. This massage focuses on training the vessels with the help of circulation-enhancing masks and stimulation of the connective tissue.

Laser treatment as an alternative

With a laser treatment, the red veins on the face can be completely removed. About three to six sessions are necessary for the couperose to disappear. A treatment costs depending on the case from about 50 euros. The disadvantage: the veins can come back.
