Sneaker producer is fed up with plagiarism
Most of us probably have a pair in the closet: The All Stars by Converse are the most popular sneakers ever. The fact that this has provided countless copies, but the manufacturer does not really like.
For nearly 100 years, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars have been an integral part of shoe fashion. Although originally designed for the basketball court, the characteristic training shoes today are primarily a status symbol of nonchalance. And that can cost future owners around 60 euros. Actually not that much for a shoe that practically never goes out of fashion.
And yet, even cheaper alternatives such as weeds sprang up in recent years. No wonder the Converse is a thorn in the side - now the company decided to sue 31 labels. These include Sketchers, Fila, Ralph Lauren and Walmart, where the plagiarism costs a whopping $ 12.
Features such as the black stripes on the sole edge and the rubber toe cap are typical of the sneakers. There is no problem with fair competition, said company boss Jim Calhoun, but other companies have no right to copy the protected look of the Chucks. We can only agree with him.
