Villain to fall in love

Wentworth Miller in an interview

Hard on the outside and soft on the inside: Wentworth Miller will conquer our hearts as a prisoner in the TV series "Prison Break" ...

Mysterious blue-gray eyes, 1.84 meters tall, well-toned upper body, a striking face with an alert look and almost bald-shaven head - it is hardly manly! And more exotic: newcomer star Wentworth Miller is an Englishman, his father an African-American, his mother a Russian-French descent.

This hot import will now turn the heads of women in Germany - with the US series "Prison Break". In it, Miller plays an engineer who deliberately maneuvers himself into jail to rescue his brother.

For hours, the 35-year-old must sit in the mask before each day of shooting, to be redesigned there to the tough jail brother Michael Scofield - twice a week, the hair is shaved off and it takes four hours to apply his full body tattoo! It consists of 20 stickers and is put together like a puzzle. "The tedious tattoo can sometimes be helpful too, " says Miller, laughing, "if I only enter a Starbucks store wearing shorts and flip-flops, all the people in the queue will make room for me immediately."

In the series, Michael Scofield enters the Fox River State prison in the state of Illinois to later escape together with his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) from there. Lincoln is in prison for murdering the brother of the US Vice President. He is awaiting the death penalty. Although he assures his innocence, but no one believes him - except Michael. This is an elaborate plan: Since he was involved as an engineer in the reconstruction of the prison, he knows the detailed site plan and allows him to code on his body tattooed.

By now nothing stops him

Then he commits a bank robbery, is - as planned - caught and ends up in the same prison. For the first season, Miller spent five months a week "behind bars" for five days a week and as a hardened inmate he had to confront Michael with the brutal prison routine. But his hard TV facade is deceptive. Privately, Miller, who grew up in Brooklyn, is remarkably accommodating and even shy. He describes himself as a "couchpotato who prefers to dub a Simpsons episode on DVD rather than dance a night in clubs".

"But as far as discipline and planning are concerned, I can identify very well with my film character Michael, because I too am a perfectionist. However, I have never been a criminal - at most I have run over a stop sign ", says" Went ", as friends call him. Meanwhile, nothing can stop him: In the USA, "Prison Break" is already making huge headway. In 2006, the series won the "People's Choice Award" for the best TV drama, the second season is already turned off.

But the shooting star did not have an easy start: "In eight years I was on over 450 castings. In order not to lose heart, you have to believe in yourself! "He had his first guest appearances in" Buffy "and" Emergency Room ", the first major role in 2003 in" The Human Blemish "alongside Nicole Kidman. At the latest since "Prison Break" the women lie at his feet and they are lucky: The smart movie star is still single! "I often talk to fans - and I love when a woman is smart and self-confident. If she still has humor, I'll melt there! "
