Lifelong learning is the magic word in professional life. The good: Further education is available to every employee

Those who want to continue their education do not necessarily have to sacrifice their holidays, but can apply for an educational leave.

Educational leave is a great thing : you do something for yourself - and get extra days off. The opportunity should be used!

What exactly does "educational leave" mean?

Educational leave means that you are exempted from work for five days a year to attend a training course that you select yourself.

Am I entitled to educational leave?

Each federal state has its own legislation. Only Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Saxony and Thuringia, there is no corresponding legal regulation. Here you have to ask your employer directly whether he is accommodating and grants you the educational leave.

What is offered?

For the employer to approve the training, the seminar must have been recognized by the competent state authority as educational leave . These can be, for example, courses in rhetoric, EDP or stress management. More information is available at the following address: www.arbeitundleben.de .

Who pays the fees?

You have to pay the costs yourself, but you can deduct them from the tax. The boss continues to pay the wages. Also, ask if you can apply for an education bonus. This is possible with an income up to 20, 000 euros. Further information is also available at www.bildungspraemie.info .

How do I apply for educational leave?

You must apply for educational leave no later than six weeks before you start. You will receive a form from the organizer. Talk to your boss beforehand: Explain that this training has an advantage for the quality of your work.
