Moving video: How dementia changes the life of a family

Moving and honest: how a family deals with dementia

Jacqueline Heath was on her way to her husband when she suddenly did not know where she was. She wanted to pick up Tim from work, a stretch she could actually drive in her sleep. But suddenly she was alien to the area. She felt lost. The family knew something was wrong.

A short time later, Jacqueline is diagnosed with Pick's disease, an early dementia that changes the life of the family forever. Jacqueline is the mother of two grown children, with her husband she leads a full life. But from one day to the other is the always affectionate, cheerful and kindly known woman can not be recognized again.

For her children Jake and Zoe, it's as if their mother died. But Jacquie is still there. Only she is no longer the person she once was. That does not change the infinite love for the woman, whose personality exists only in the memory.

Her dementia has changed the whole life of the family. Jacqueline's husband has stopped working to be there for his wife around the clock. Only that his wife is no longer there, she has become a nursing case. The family is now trying to return some of the love Jacqueline has given them throughout their lives.

Her son Jake Heath now made a moving and incredibly honest documentary about his mother's dementia. The video not only shows how much the disease can change a life, but also, in a touching way, what a wonderful person Jacquie must have been.

Jacquie is a loving mother and wife. But one day she is no longer herself. A moving video shows how her family lives with dementia.
