Large relaxation zone in a small space

The beginning of summer is just around the corner and the well-deserved summer vacation is already within reach. Some pack their bags and spend the days off from home. Others are looking forward to a few relaxing days in the cozy home on "Balkonien". With simple tricks you can prepare even in a small space a large relaxation zone.

Colorful flower sea

Of course, fresh flowers should not be lacking in the summer so that the bare balcony turns into a wellness oasis. There are many different ways to turn your balcony into a small flower meadow. A highlight can be made easily from an old wooden ladder itself. To do this, first sand the ladder, paint with white paint and attach to a wall. The sprouts are then ideal as a climbing aid for climbing roses or clematis. Alternatively, you can use the construction as a flower shelf. The treads are simply converted into shelves and the flowers are arranged in colorful planters to a pretty arrangement. The finished decorative element is not only convertible, but also exudes a very playful charm. Replacing the traditional ceramic pots with silver-colored metal pails gives the atmosphere an elegant touch. Attention: It is better to drill a hole in the bottom of the pot before planting, so that the moisture does not build up in the rain and drown the flowers. For optimal privacy you can also attach flower boxes to the railing, where, for example, hanging geraniums obstruct the view of the balcony.

Romantic light

The outdoor lights from the Christmas season will be used again in the summer. Cleverly hung over the balcony or under a parasol, it ensures a cozy starry sky. In the hardware store, there are also optional small solar light chains that recharge with sunlight during the day and automatically light up at dusk. From an old galvanized Waschzuber can easily conjure up a water lily pond for balcony, which can be provided in the evening with small floating candles. If the warm candlelight is reflected in the dark on the water, it immerses the evening mood in a very cozy and romantic atmosphere. For those who want to put on very individual deco elements I have a great trick to tinker even small lanterns. All you need is old tin cans, nail and hammer and spray paint. After removing the paper from the outside, use the nail to punch a fine hole pattern into the preserve and then spray it in color. In summer, particularly soft pastel tones fit into the ambience. With a small handle made of wire you hang up the lanterns and put in a tealight. The bright ornaments are a very playful highlight at night.

Cozy sunbathing area

Under the motto "make old from new", you can conjure up pretty eyecatcher from the faded seat cushions of the previous year even with a small budget. Made of colorful fabric you sew the weathered pillows new covers and sets so very slightly fresh accents. With a matching blanket, the seating area invites you to cuddle up on cool summer evenings. Another highlight you can build yourself from industrial pallets, which are cheap to buy from the wholesaler. For a lounge table simply sand off two pallets and paint in any color. The table can be placed on top of each other and provided with furniture casters. Even small stools and a couch can be built from old pallets. Fitted with foam cushions and cushions, the upcycling furniture has real eye-catching potential.

The summer can come and the cozy hours on the balcony is now nothing in the way.
