Alexander Skarsgard: "My dream woman is hard to find"

Star interview with Alexander Skarsgard

Alexander Skarsgard shows himself naked without any problems - but never from his vulnerable side.

JOY: In July you will be coming to the cinema with two films: in the political thriller "The East" you play the leader of an anarchist group and in the family drama "The Luck of the Big Things" a loving substitute father.

In addition, you've been shooting the vampire series "True Blood" for six years now. How do you get the projects under one roof?

Alexander Skarsgard: In any case, I could not relax great in my last six-month "True Blood" break in 2012 (laughs). "The East" and "The Luck of the Big Things" are small but challenging indie projects that have little money available.

The style of Alexander Skarsgard is shown here!

The fees for the two films were so minimal that I almost worked in vain, but that was worth it to me. Both roles meant a great, creative challenge and everyone involved put their heart and soul into the projects. Luckily, I was able to afford the luxury of being a part of it, as I am financially secure with "True Blood".

In "The East" you mimic a rich son who uses his fortune to protect the environment. What is the greatest luxury for you privately?

Since I was constantly filming for the last ten years, I lived like a gypsy all the time out of my suitcase. I often slept with friends on the couch and sometimes lived two years in the garage of a buddy. Last year, I indulged in my first home in Los Feliz, a classy neighborhood in Los Angeles. It was time to grow up and settle down.

What is your everyday life like in Los Angeles?

I had to get used to it when I moved to California in 2008. In my native Stockholm, I walked constantly, my friends lived around the corner. Now I'm sitting in the car for 30 minutes to have a coffee. Meanwhile I got used to it and am happy here. For six months a year, I'm in front of the camera at Hollywood Center Studios for "True Blood."

When I'm not filming during the breaks, I go traveling: Once I sailed the Atlantic for a month. Next, I fly with friends to Iceland to hike far away from civilization. In addition, I often visit my family and friends in Sweden.

What do you value most about your friends?

I grew up with them, we have known each other for a lifetime. They do not care about Hollywood or glamor! One of them is a carpenter, another unemployed, another job as a geriatric nurse. We drink beer and love to talk about football, that's good.

Women are certainly also an issue. What qualities do you particularly appreciate about a woman?

I like ladies with humor. Everyone should be able to laugh at themselves. I can not stand it when people take themselves too seriously. However, it is not so easy to find such a woman! Hollywood is not a good place for data - neither for women nor for men. All are too focused on externals and want to keep dates as non-binding.

What do you do if your heart has been broken?

Unfortunately, I have no good advice, because I deal with such a situation as wrong as my alter ego Eric from "True Blood": I did not deal with the pain, because that hurts. I suppress the grief and pretend that I am not injured and I am well.

Her parents divorced after 35 years of marriage. How did you influence this separation?

My father Stellan got married again and got two more children. My mother My called me desperately and said, "I have been with your father since I was 18, and I have six children with him. How is my life going to continue? "After the first shock, she made the breakup insane. Since then she risks more and is happier than before. I have a very close relationship with my mother. What my siblings and I appreciate: After the divorce, my parents remained friends.

What was the biggest culture shock in Hollywood for you as Swede?

I find many Americans too jammed. Nakedness on the screen is censored here, brutal violence is not. I have no problem showing my body. Maybe it's because my parents were hippies. My father was always walking naked through the house. That was completely normal. However, it was a bit embarrassing when I brought home girls at home after school and he wanted to hug her naked with a glass of wine in her hand (laughs).
