This has now been published in a recent risk assessment by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). The warning is urgent: From now on children under the age of 12 can no longer be treated with codeinhaltigem cough syrup . In addition, the codeine CT 5mg / 5ml for children must be withdrawn from use and may no longer be sold by pharmacies. According to BfArM, the reason is the risk of so-called respiratory depression.
