6 DIY ideas: candle deco for a cozy autumn

Now it's getting cozy

Home-made lanterns are among the most beautiful deco ideas in autumn and winter. We show our favorite pieces in six simple instructions.

This is what you need for the pumpkin candles:

  • Hokkaido pumpkin
  • Tealight flat wick waxed with holder (eg from idea)
  • Wax in red
  • knife
  • Spoon for hollowing
  • Pot for the water bath and plastic pot for melting the wax

And that's how easy it is:

1. Cut open the lid of the Hokkaido pumpkin and hollow out the pumpkin. Place candle wick in the center of the pumpkin.

2. Make red wax on the stove liquid in a water bath and pour into the pumpkin.

3. Allow to harden well.

What you need for the flower wreath with candles:

  • Rosehip branches in red and green
  • 3 stems green (eg Gaultheria)
  • 2 stems chrysanthemums in red-brown
  • 1 stipe chrysanthemum in pink
  • 2 stalks of mini rosehip in green
  • floral wire
  • myrte
  • Footed bowl / cake stand
  • Stumpenkerze
  • Glass lantern
  • secateurs

And that's how easy it is:

1. Wind a wreath of rosehip twigs and fix with flower wire.

2. Cut green or flowers. Put together a few stems and attach them with myrtle wire to the wreath of rose hip branches. Keep green or flowers in shingles over and over and tie them up with wire until the circle is closed.

3. Place the wreath on a foot bowl and arrange candles in the center of the cake stand.

Important! Do not allow candles to burn unattended and avoid drafts. Keep the burning bowl clean. If the candle smokes, wick shorten something. Only burn the candle on an incombustible base or use a self-extinguishing candle.

This is what you need for the wooden lanterns:

  • Bark made of birch (www.nadeco.de)
  • Punches (craft shop)
  • hammer
  • Piece of wood as a base
  • Geschenkband
  • Glass lantern
  • floral wire

And that's how easy it is:

1. Cut the tree bark roughly to size with scissors.

2. Beat pattern with punch and hammer into tree bark.

3. Gift ribbon weaving.

4. Dip bark (including tape) in hot water and leave to cool down the water.

5. Place bark around the lantern when wet and hold in position with flower wire.

6. When the tree bark has completely dried out, the wire can be removed.

What you need for the lanterns with heather:

  • Lantern large
  • Lantern glass small
  • sheet
  • transparent double-sided adhesive tape (eg from tesa)
  • floral wire
  • CallunaVulgaris - broom heath
  • myrte
  • Nature tape
  • white candles
  • tealight
  • tape measure
  • scissors
  • wire cutter
  • Flower shears

And that's how easy it is:

Windlight middle:

1. Copy music paper and cut to the desired size.

2. Fasten the music paper to the glass with double-sided adhesive tape.

3. Straighten a wire ring in the diameter of the glasses.

4. Cut the heath. Put together a few stems and attach them to the wire ring with myrtle wire. Keep the heather in a shed shape and wrap it with wire until the circle is closed.

5. Put the Heidering around the glass and put candles in it.

In the right lantern proceed as above and 3 wreaths are superimposed.

Lighthouse on the left:

1. Shorten the heath sticks to the desired length.

2. Glue a strip of double-sided tape around the glass.

3. Fix heath sticks to the tape.

4. Tie natural ribbon around the heath and tie into a bow.

5. Put tealight in the glass.

You need this for the floating candles:

  • 3 glass vases in different heights
  • 1 big branch
  • Floating candles (drugstore)
  • secateurs

And that's how easy it is:

1. Fill different vases with water.

2. Cut branches into vase size.

3. Lower branches in the vases.

4. Carefully place the floating candles on the water.

What you need for the LED lights:

  • Felt band in purple and red (craft shop)
  • LED real wax candles (set of 2, approx. 8 cm, height approx. 12 cm, can be switched off by blowing out, incl. Batteries, red / cream, approx. 11 €, from Tchibo)
  • Pink pepper (from the florist)
  • Physalis (from the florist)
  • scissors

And that's how easy it is:

1. Wrap the felt tape around the candle several times in the middle and knot it.

2. Push the physalis and pink pepper under the knot.
