5 DIY ideas: stamping with fruits and vegetables

We become creative

Placemat, cushion cover, pictures and bags - with the stamping technique, you can upholster all sorts of accessories. Here are six ideas.

What you need for the placemat:

  • corncob
  • skewers
  • Stupfpinsel (craft shop)
  • Textile paint (craft shop about 3, €) in orange and black
  • Napkin and placemat
  • Iron flower:
  • Sandersonia

And that's how easy it is:

1. Put a shish kebab on the left and right in the corncobs and dab the corncobs with lavishly colored fabric with a stubbing brush.

2. Roll the corncob over the placemat and the napkin under even pressure, or when the color fades, sprinkle the corncob again. Let the paint dry.

3. Make the textile dye washable by ironing according to the manufacturer's instructions.

You need this for the pictures:

  • potato
  • paring knife
  • felt-tip pen
  • spinach leaves
  • Acrylic paint in black and gray
  • stippling

And that's how easy it is:

Picture with squares:

1. Halve a slightly larger potato and draw a square on the cut surface with a felt-tip pen.

2. Carve out the square with a vegetable knife.

3. Dab the square area with black acrylic paint with a Stupfpinsel. Stamp the paper evenly with the potato, dabbing new paint on the potato in between. Let the paint dry.

Spinach printing :

1. Dab the spinach leaves alternately with black and gray acrylic paint and apply light pressure to the paper. Let the paint dry. Insert both pictures in matching frames.

You need this for the wrapping paper:

  • stippling
  • savoy cabbage
  • Acrylic paint in different shades of green and in black
  • Paper in DIN A-2
  • mushrooms
  • sharp
  • knife

And that's how easy it is:

Savoy Pressure:

1. Dab the cabbage leaves with acrylic paint in different shades of green using the Stupfpinsels. Press cabbage evenly on the paper in DIN A2. Let the paint dry well.

Mushroom Pressure:

1. Carefully break the stalk out of the mushroom and cut off the edge of the mushroom with a sharp knife until the lamellae are exposed. Tip: The best are the slightly flatter mushrooms.

2. Carefully dab the black acrylic paint on the lamellae with the Stupf brush and press evenly on the paper. Let the paint dry.

You need this for the cushion cover:

  • Citrus fruits (grapefruit, lime, lemon)
  • cushion cover
  • stippling
  • black textile paint
  • knife
  • paper towels
  • newsprint
  • Iron

And that's how easy it is:

1. Halve citrus fruits and dab the liquid with a little paper towel.

2. Put some newspaper in the cushion cover so that the color does not get lost.

3. Dab half a fruit with black textile dye with a Stupfpinsel and press evenly on the cushion cover.

4. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly and iron it according to the manufacturer's instructions.

You need this for the bag:

  • potato
  • cloth bag
  • stippling
  • Textile paint in pink, green and black (craft shop)
  • Brush, fine knife
  • newsprint
  • Iron

And that's how easy it is:

1. Cut one potato lengthwise and halve the half again to create a crescent-shaped surface.

2. Put some newsprint paper in your pocket so that the paint does not go away.

3. Spread the textile dye on the cut surface with a stub brush and press the potato evenly on the bag. Repeat procedure according to the desired number of melons. Let the paint dry.

4. Using a fine brush and green textile paint, paint the bowl on the half melon and paint the cores into the pink area with black textile paint.

5. Iron the motif by washing according to the manufacturer's instructions.
