How to recognize that you have found a real girlfriend in the office

When colleagues become real friends, they not only sweeten our working day. 5 characters showing that you have found your office BFF.

End of working day. After the stressful day, only a glass of red wine helps. Or two. And because you've already worked together until late in the evening anyway, you can also ask the colleague right away if she still wants to have a drink, instead of spontaneously dialing off half the phone book. This happens a few times, and the colleague becomes a friend over time .

Until the colleague then becomes a really close companion, it often only takes as long as in a good shared flat: a common topic of conversation, a chat in the tea kitchen - and then you are somehow close. If her sister has just had a child, the new tenancy agreement is over, or the friend's birthday has been forgotten, then you are suddenly the first person to be happy or comfort her.

And yet, if you are friends with someone, this is usually very common in everyday life. On the other hand, a work colleague is often left in limbo for that matter. Whether it is a true friendship, you can see from our 5-point checklist:

1. You always have a lunch date

... and can even improve your eating habits thanks to the dearest employee ! The colleague orders for lunch only one salad? Sure, that we would immediately feel bad with a big piece of schnitzel on our plate. The positive thing about it: At the workplace, it is much easier to adhere to a diet plan when the desk neighbor joins in. Otherwise the whole thing works, of course, unfortunately.

2. You two can talk about everything

If you like yourself, common topics of conversation come naturally. Nevertheless, we are inspired by our colleagues. If a member of staff enthuses excessively about the upcoming Caribbean vacation, you can also leaf through the guide book faster, although so far every year the caravan went to Brittany. After all, a friendship involves more than just having fun together at the job or a small joke between a coffee machine and a copier.

3. You have someone with whom you can stand with every office party

And because the "Frollegentum" ensures a good mood in the workplace, the risk of infection is great. Before you know it, you are at best a member of a whole office clique. This type of group dynamic can mean that at the end of the day, we are not only more productive in everyday office life, but also really want to come back the next morning. Because we will eventually master the nerve-wracking presentation not only with colleagues, but also somehow together with friends.

4. You miss her or him on the weekend

Yes, with their new office BFF, even the really short weekend can suddenly seem long. It's no wonder, as you spend more than eight hours at a stretch five days a week. The nice: After the weekend, you look forward to the Monday morning - and can finally report in detail about everything that happened on the weekend.

5. The colleague asks you something about her work, and is really interested in the answer

Her "normal" friends are polite enough to ask her regularly, "And how's the job?", "Has your boss recovered?" or "What are you doing all day?". But colleagues-friends are really interested in the answer. After all, you work in the same company, you may even have the same job. If you are directly affected, it will automatically interest you a lot more. In the office, it's basically a bit like on a school trip back in the old days - only with a briefcase instead of satchels.
