She never wanted to crochet.

The US-American crochets extraordinary headgear for children with cancer.

Samantha Mutschler never wanted to crochet. "I always thought that was a retiree sport." But then a friend of her family falls ill with bone cancer at the age of 12. Samantha would like to help - and learn the crochet - by her newfound ability she wants to give the girl a fancy headgear. Within the next five years, the non-profit organization "Unraveled" will emerge from this unique gift idea, and its witty, self-crocheted headboards are now being ordered by families of children suffering from cancer from all over the world.

All wishes are fulfilled

Whether cheeky Iroquois cut, blonde wall mane or long brown curls - Mutschler tries to fulfill all the crochet wishes. Particularly popular are figures and especially princesses from Disney films.

Determination of life found

Meanwhile, more than 160 individual models have been crocheted by Samantha Mutschler. "When I graduated in 2008, I was worried about the future because I did not want to study, " Mutschler writes on her Facebook page. "Now I finally know what my job is, I'll never doubt it anymore, because I'm sure that now I'm doing exactly what God intended me to do." And she is incredibly happy with how many people she can give pleasure with. "I am always enthusiastic about the fighting spirit of these children and I am happy that I can enrich their lives a bit, if only for a moment, " says Mutschler. "If someone told me three years ago that I would do that once, I would have laughed at him." Instead, many children's hearts now laugh.
