104-year-old wraps Scotland in a knit blanket

The oldest Strickoma

The idea is not new, the implementation already. For a few days, the Scottish border towns Selkirk, Ettrickbridge and Yarrow disappear under a homemade knit blanket. Fences, benches and lampposts - suddenly everything is colorful. And why? Because 104-year-old Grace Brett and her knitting club were banned from attending the Yes Arts Festival.

Grace Brett is probably the oldest street artist in the world. Her great passion: knitting. Together with her 40 club members, the knit enthusiast Grandma wanted to participate in the art-oriented "Yes Art Festival" - until she was excluded from those responsible. What followed? A revenge reaction of a special kind.

Since November 2014, the 41 women knit in absolute secrecy, what the right stuff and decorated with the beginning of the festival 46 seats in three cities with octopus, owls and dolls.
